Setup & key ideas

Before you start

  • A standing opponent is circling past your legs but has not pinned your upper body; you can still frame against their upper arm.

Key ideas

  • Meet the circling passer with a frame on their biceps.
  • Bring the far leg over that arm to rebuild a leg-and-arm barrier.
  • Follow their movement through those connections and turn back to face them when space opens.

Common pitfalls

  • Waiting for a settled chest-to-chest pin.
  • Treating temporary leg contact as a completed guard recovery.
